A while back, while reading the galleys for an English-Japanese dictionary, I came across an abbreviation I couldn't understand. I don't remember the exact entry, but it was something like this:
club [名]
...(5) トランプの札のEPの一つ。
I spent several minutes scanning lists of abbreviations trying to figure out what "EP" stood for before I realized that this was supposed to be:
club [名]
...(5) トランプの札の印の一つ。
Apparently a handwritten 印 had been misinterpreted by the typesetter as "EP."
