Vocabulary notes

Mō Takutō = 毛沢東 (the Japanese reading of “Mao Zedong”)
Shū Onrai = 周恩来 (Zhou Enlai)
Yō Kihi = 楊貴妃 (Yang Guifei)
Chinchin noodles = チンチン麺 (a name chosen by the Japanese owner of the shop presumably because chinchin in Japanese is a child’s word for “penis”)
Goyōtei = 御用亭 (This sounds like the name of an elegant restaurant, but in fact it was just a small annex a few doors down from the main shop with benches and stools. This annex has since closed.)
